Basic Rider Course (BRC)
The class is designed to introduce the new rider or the returning rider to the world of motorcycling. This course covers the basic fundamentals for the rider to learn to be a safe and responsible motorcyclist.
The BRC will provide you the opportunity to learn the physical and mental skills important for operating a motorcycle. Here are a few of the topics covered in this 15 hour course:
- Introduction to motorcycling
- Protective gear and what to wear
- Motorcycle controls
- Pre-rider inspection of the motorcycle
- Street strategies to avoid trouble
- Avoiding obstacles and lane changes
- Passing and riding at night
- Collision avoidance skills
- Swerving and special situations
- Carrying a passenger or cargo
- Dealing with tire failure and other problems
- Increasing your motorcycle riding enjoyment and safety.
No motorcycle experience is needed for this course, however even experienced riders will find valuable information and a chance to practice their fundamental riding skills.
Students should have a good sense of balance and been able to ride a bicycle.
BRC Course Schedule
Our BRC classes are offered with three different schedules. The one-weekend classes start in March 2012 and are offered each weekend until late October. Our weekday and weeknight classes start in May and are offered until the late fall. You can check for class dates, class openings and register on-line for all of our classes.
