MSF's Experienced Rider Courses
ATC is proud to offer three different Experienced Rider Courses. Each course is designed for the rider with some riding experience or the experienced rider looking for a chance to polish their skills and improve their handling of their motorcycle.
These courses are all based on the riding range and involves no classroom sessions.
ERC Skills Practice Rider Course (ERC-P)
This course is designed for riders who have successfully completed the Basic Riders Course (BRC) or who possess basic operational skills. Its features are:
- Riders may use an ATC training motorcycle or bring their own safe, street-ready motorcycle.
- There is no knowledge test or skill test.
- No passengers are permitted.
This is a four-hour course and is for skills practice only and the student will receive a MSF completion card for the ERC Skills Practice Course.
This course is great for the new rider to enjoy more practice time. Class size is small to allow for more personalized instruction.
The course fee for the ERC - Skills Practice is $75.00 and is offered only in the spring. Here are the dates for 2010:
SATURDAY - April 10 (8:00 AM to Noon)
SATURDAY - April 24 (8:00 AM to Noon)
ERC Skills Plus RiderCourse (ERC+)
This course is designed for riders who are already licensed and
frequently rides. Students may repeat the course periodically to
keep skills and perceptions about safety fresh. A rider must provide
a safe, street-ready motorcycle. The knowledge test and riding skills
test are optional at the end of the session.
Passengers may participate in this course. This is great option for those who ride with a passenger, since you will practice your riding skills with and without the passenger and learn the effects of the passenger on the handling of your motorcycle. This option also teaches the importance of the passenger as vital partner in safe riding.
The course fee for the ERC Skills Plus RiderCourse is $125.00 for a solo rider and $145.00 for the two-up option. Attending this course earns the student a MSF Experienced Rider Course completion card.
ERC License Waiver RiderCourse (ERC-W)
This course is designed for riders who as yet do not possess a Michigan motorcycle endorsement. This is a full-day course and has the same content as the ERC RiderCourse Skills Plus class. This is the revised Performance-Based Course. Its features are:
-
Riders may use an ATC training motorcycle for the course (for an additional fee).
-
Riders car us their own safe, insured, street-ready motorcycle.
-
Successful completion of the MSF knowledge test and a riding skills test is required to obtain a license waiver card.
To obtain a State of Michigan waiver card for your motorcycle endorsement, the student must complete the following: Successful completion of a knowledge test and a riding skills test is required. No passengers are permitted. This course option is held at the same time as the ERC RiderCourse Skills Plus Class.
The course fee for the ERC License Waiver RiderCourse is $125.00.
ATC recommends the use of your motorcycle for this course as you will be practicing skills on your motorcycle that you will use on the streets. However, should you be interested in rental of an ATC training motorcycle for the course, these are available on a limited basis for an additional fee of $50.00.
Alpha Training Center’s Student Satisfaction Promise
The Basic Rider Course (BRC) and the Experienced Rider Course for License Waiver (ERC-W) have a very high successful completion rate (over 95%).
