Below are some of the kind words from the students that we have had in our class. If you are a graduate from our class, and would like to add your comments, please click here.
Very highly recommended. I've rode for 35 years and still learned a lot. Looking forward to the RIDE LIKE A PRO Course.
--Scott W.
My ATC classes were in April 2008. I had the pleasure of having Amy Kraus as an instructor. She is phenomenal! Her riding skills coupled with her teaching/coaching abilities put this driver back on a bike with more confidence than I thought possible. I would highly recommend this facility to all.
--Linda B.
THANK YOU!!! I just completed the Basic Rider Course this last weekend and it easily surpassed any expectations I had. Outstanding. A very professional yet friendly and accommodating environment. Roy made the Friday night coursework enjoyable and easy to learn. He organized the information and made sure that everyone new the most important and critical concepts for safe riding. Bill was extremely effective as a hands on instructor. His expertise and instructional methods built confidence and skill with each successive set of maneuvers. I would highly recommend this course to anyone starting out. I will be back next year for the Experienced Rider Course. Thanks again, to you and your staff.
--Steve M.
I took the course in spring of 2007. I had always been a passenger and when I decided to become a operator. I knew Alpha Training Center was the place to train me. I was very impressed with the instructors and the teaching. They are tough but its for your own good. They even gave me some extra help on a few areas so that I could pass. Each time I am on the road, I think back on my training and use my skills they taught me. I ride offensively and defensively and it makes it an enjoyable experience. Thanks for all you do.
--Christine W.
I have been riding for over thirty years. I found that I have been making the same mistakes over and over for all these years. The ATC "Ride Like A Pro Class" was a great experience. I learned many new control "tricks" and feel that I have more control over my bike now than before the class. Thanks!
--Jim W.
I attended your class in May of 2007, it has been a wonderful summer of riding. At 53 years old I would never have thought that I would learn to ride a bike. You guys are great, the instructors were great even thought they were tough as they needed to be. I'm looking forward to riding into the fall and again next summer. My boyfriend and I both took the course, he already had his endorsement from many years earlier, but I passed the riding test with a higher score then he did because of his bad habits. I had never ridden a bike before and had only been a passenger twice in my life. Thank you and all your instructors for giving me the opportunity to learn such a great skill that I will enjoy the rest of my life. Again, THANKS
--Sally .
I attended the weekend BRC on June 15-17. I have to say that it was the best money spent since buying my motorcycle. The things that your instructors taught have been INVALUABLE to me!! Roy and Dave were awesome... and I've been telling everyone about your classes! Thank you, thank you, thank you!
--Dorinda
I wanted to say that I really enjoyed the class and the instructors were very knowledgeable and helpful. I learned some new things that will help me when I ride. Thank you very much.....
--George H.
Jim, Amy and my memorable instructor Bill - I Just wanted to drop you guys a note and let you know how much I enjoyed my experience at ATC the weekend of 6/29. The class room atmosphere was very well organized, professional and educational. The range and the range exercises really helped me regain my confidence and refine my skills on a motorcycle. Bill is a great instructor! I really enjoyed his relaxed approach in teaching all of us the correct riding techniques. He may be old and grumpy (just kidding...) but he posses a keen eye for riding that allows him to offer good/correct advice for each individual rider. He quickly identified my week areas, told me what they were and how to fix them. Thank You. I'm very glad I took my friends advice/recommendation and choose your organization for my basic safety training class. I hope to recommend you guys to others in the future. Thanks Again.... PS - I was directed to this site from the vmaxforum.net

Hello Jim & Amy, I've said I was going to send a note to you so many times....here it is! I completed my class with you in July 2006 and started riding a Harley 1200 as soon as I got home, I tried to talk the hubby into a smaller bike, but he said I could do it. And you were right about there being two kinds of riders...the one that has fallen and the one that hasn't fallen yet. I'm part of the first group. I lost it in gravel stops a few times within the first couple of months and wear a couple of scars on my arms. I also have a scratch on my windshield, but I keep it there to remind myself to stay focused. I remember everything from the class and can’t thank you and your trainers enough for teaching me to be a good rider. I've had some great experiences riding all over the United States. In the spring we rode up into the mountains of Colorado with snow skiers going by as we drove our bikes through the most breath taking scenery. This summer I've had to use the stopping skills you taught us over and over again in class. A doe and her fawns ran out in front of us, but I used the skills you taught and have kept the bike up and stopped in time. I'm 57 years old and have been married for 32 years. Riding our bikes together has brought a new excitement to our marriage! Thanks again and safe riding!
--Phyllis L.
I graduated from your BRC class the weekend of June 8. It was so much fun, and a great place for a 45 year old woman to start driving for the first time! My husband bought me a Honda 750 Shadow before the class started. I put 700 miles on that before I moved up to a Honda VTX 1300. (It's orange and matches my husband's VTX 1800) Dave - you were right. I was so afraid of getting a bigger bike and yet this bike is more stable and rides smoother than the 750. I just want to let you know that I use something that I learned in class every time we ride. Many times when I come to a curve, I think - slow, look, press and roll! I've already put almost 800 miles on my new bike and am loving every minute of it! Thanks for teaching such a fun and informative class - I recommend you guys to everyone I talk to!
--Laurie T.
Hi Jim & Amy ... I completed your BRC the weekend of July 22nd, and took delivery of a Victory Hammer on the 23rd. Cornering that Pig is a lot different than that little Nighthawk I drove during BRC (I liken it to a Tractor) ... BUT, I recalled my class with Paul, and how I stared at him in disbelief when he discussed counter-steering ... "go left-push left." I did not believe it, but I used it and it got me home. I am happy to say that I have been on that bike every night since the class, and after 650 miles this week, I am feeling comfortable yet respectful of the power and my surroundings. Thanks again Jim and Amy; and a special thanks to you, Paul. I can't wait to get some experience under my butt so I can take your "Ride Like a Pro" class.
--Tim W.
I have just completed (and passed) my BRC class today (July 15th). My group had Glenn as our instructor. He did an excellent job. He was very patient with us and friendly and you never felt rushed. Our group was small, only six people total (we all passed which was cool). The exercises were fun and everyone had a good time, though everyone learned to have a love/hate relationship with the "figure 8 in a box" exercise (if you take the class you'll know what I mean hehe). I think Glenn made that exercise look too easy when he gave us the demonstration for it, but he's been riding for years. That exercise however was great for learning to really keep the bike under control and concentrate on the often neglected head turning aspect of riding. All in all I'd like to give the class a big thumbs up. I look forward now to purchasing a bike of my own as I found no way to sneak out with one of their fine bikes. :) To all the graduates of group C, happy riding!
--Michael K.
I attended the June 15-17 BRC class had a blast even though I had to show up in a tow truck because my car died. I enjoyed the class. I have been passing your name it on to everyone I know. What a great benefit it is to take your class. Thank you so much for giving me the keys to become a safer and cautious rider. You guys are great!!!
--Todd R.
I took your BRC class on May 4-6, 2007. You can not believe how many times I have recommended this course to others. Sorry I haven't commented till now but I took Bills advice and "just get out there and ride"and haven't been home much to leave a comment. I took the course so I could ride an 85 rebel 250 I bought before I got into any bad habits. Everyone was so supportive, even when I dropped the bike. I haven't dropped it once since then and am currently starting to ride my boyfriends V-Star 650 - he moved up to a Nomad 1500. I have wanted to ride for over 30 years and you taught me how to do it safely. Bill thank you for being tough when I needed it and giving me the encouragement when I finally did it right. And YES I can now master the figure 8 within two parking spaces. Thanks for making my dreams come true in becoming a motorcyclist.
--Gloria W.
Awesome class! Being a beginner rider at 36, this class taught me all the fundamental techniques that one needs to ride a bike. Class instructors, Dave, Dave and Paul were excellent. It was a great confidence builder. Keep up the good work! I went for a 70 mile ride the day after I completed the class!
--Marsha P.
Dear Amy and Jim, I am a recent "graduate" of your June 1,2 3rd training class. My range "coaches" were Denny and Dave. I have been on motorcycles much of my younger days however not in many many years and not on the road. I am here to tell you that although I felt confident on the road prior to this class I can say with certainty that I am 100% safer today thanks to your class. I find that I am putting into practice all the skills that were taught in the classroom and on the range. Dave and Denny were great coaches. Very encouraging yet very clear on the expectations as far as safety and appropriate riding skills necessary to be safe road riders. I would hope that any one considering riding take this class. I don't think any of us are above the learning curve and I for one want to enjoy my riding and know that I am doing all that I can to be a safe and responsible rider. Anyway just a note of thanks. I am telling all my friends!!!!
--Leslie A.
I have been riding off and on for many years. I recently attended your class 6-8-07 thru 6-11-07 and learned more than I thought I knew about riding technique and skill. I passed on your brochure to two other people who are looking into riding bikes. Everything about the class was top notch! Thanks! Adam
--Adam D.
I LOVED taking the ATC Basic Rider Class. I learned a lot and had loads of fun. I had never driven a motorcycle before this class, and now I am on one all the time and having the time of my life!! Thanks Alpha Training Center!
--Amanda K.
Hi Jim and Amy, Just a note to let you know how much I thoroughly enjoyed the ATC "Ride Like a Pro" class that our chapter members attended recently. Your approach to teaching and professionalism is outstanding. As Head Road Captain and Safety Officer for HOG Chapter 2280, I can recommend your courses and facility with confidence. Thanks again.
--John H.
I took the ATC "Ride Like a Pro" class this past weekend and on the way home, I had an opportunity to utilize the skills we had practiced earlier in the day. On my way back to the Detroit area, there was a large construction back-up around Howell. When I exited and looked for an alternate route, I passed the road I had needed to take, and rather than looking for a large parking lot to turn around in, I was able to utilize the tear drop turn around in a small turn-off. Instead of driving farther than I needed to, I was able to get back on track faster and felt like I had mastered an important skill. It is rare to leave a class with skills that are immediately available for use, and I was pleased that I had an opportunity to have a real-life application occur so quickly. Thank you for another wonderful class. I have taken your BRC, ERC, and Ride Like a Pro.
--Craig L.
ATC Team...you're the bomb! Thanks for your guidance as I overcame a complete lack of experience on motorbikes. I was pretty nervous at the beginning, but you guys got me through it....with humor, fun, and expert instruction. Now I'll get a bike and follow your words of advice.
--Derek W.
Jim and Amy, I cannot thank you enough for your instruction, generosity, and patience. You both made the class fantastic. I’m very appreciative of your time.
--Mischelle K.
Jim and Amy, Thanks for having me in the class. Appreciated being there and learning from you. All in all a great experience. Appreciated your professionalism and effort to assist all of us in doing the best that we could. I am thrilled to be able to continue to practice my new skills, slowly on the roads.
--Kim Z.
Thanks to Alpha Training Center and all of there qualified instructors, I was able to successfully earn my motorcycle endorsement. The instruction you receive from these individuals is unparalleled. Of all motorcycle training programs that I have seen, this is the best. Well worth the time, effort and money to learn from these individuals and benefit from their experience and knowledge. They all have the top credentials needed to teach people how to ride a motorcycle safely and with skill. The course is fun, energetic, informative, challenging and of course exciting. I will return in the future for the Experienced Riders Course after I have a few miles in the saddle. Thanks again Jim and Amy Kraus and "Officer Jim"!
--Rohn K.
Hello Amy: I really learned a lot last weekend and would recommend the course to anyone. Everyone was very helpful and patient with us rookies! I'm so glad I passed and am planning on taking the state written test on Wed. Thanks again for everything! Thank your husband too, he was wonderful!
--Elaine S.
This was definetley a great class and I learned alot, in and out of the classroom. The field teaching is very personal, classes are small and the instructors are intelligent and make the weekend fun. Glad I came! Thanks!
--Michael M.
Hi, I just wanted to let you know that I really enjoyed taking the Basic Riders Safety course on April 2-4th. I really can't believe how much I was able to learn. I've now picked up my bike and have been having a great time every weekend. In the last two weeks since picking them up, I've gone 300 miles and my brother's gone about 600+.
--Jeff P
What a professional crew. Alpha Training Center is a first class motorcycle training program. This program was totally intense. I am now ready for whatever the street will throw at me. All the instructors were top shelf. I was very impressed with Bill, who was very strict with me. This style of training will stay with anyone for the rest of their riding years. Jim and Amy are a wonderful team. Thanks guys for a wonderful weekend that will stay with me forever while riding and even driving. Peace, George B.
--George B.
I would like to thank all of the instructors for their time and encouragement. The class was great, and I would highly recommend it to anyone even considering getting on a bike. Any time I get to ride is a good time for me. Thank you again.
--Kelly P.
I had so much fun in this class I had to tell my online group all about it when I got home. Here's a link if you'd like to check it out on West Michigan Riders.com: http://wmriders.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=13814#13814 My wife now has more confidence in her skills than I have been able to give her in the years that I have known her. Thank you so much. We can't wait to take another class next year!
--Brian H.
Dear Jim,Amy I was very nervous initially but your humor and kindness helped me to relax and enjoy the course.I am going to put up your brochure at work.I will refer anyone who asks to your course.Thank you again!!
--Robert G.
I took the ERC on 4/29/07 Thanks to Jim,Amy & Dave! It was a great course! Very informative, worthwhile & worth every penny!
--Chris M.
I took the Basic Rider Course this past weekend and learned a ton. I have basically not been on a bike in 30 years so it was all new to me. It was very helpful and will help me when I start to ride my motor cycle.. I went today to the Sec. of State and took my test. I'm all set to go. I think this is a positive class for all motor cyclists to take. You are never to old to learn new things.
--Nickie R.
I would like to thank the ATC training staff for all the great things they helped me accomplish during this class. Everyone was very down to earth and very helpfull. I really enjoyed the class. I learned alot from Bill and Keith. They were great. Thanks again. Jim and Amy , keep up the good work you are also great. Thanks.
--si.
I took the Basic Rider Class last weekend, and totally had a Blast!!! There were four of us who took it together. The instructors were very helpful, the weather even cooporated. I highly recommend this for everyone who wants to ride. I'm even trying to talk my husband into taking one of the Experienced riding classes, even though he has been riding for forty five years!!!
--Debbie H.
This course was one of the best things I have ever done. I am 60 years old and a long time ago I rode bikes for many years. I thought I was taking a refresher course and was I ever wrong. I learned a lot of things I never learned before. Also, I have had a fair amount of training at work and at college and this course was one of the best organized and conducted training courses I have ever been through. I am biking again and it is great. Thank you
--George S.
I recently completed the BRC with Glen and Bill as my coaches. WOW! They were great! I thought I knew how to ride a bike coming in. During the course however, I learned a boat load of new skills and I really felt like I had time to perfect them. I greatly enjoyed my weekend with you all and will hopefully be returning next year to polish my skills in the advanced rider course. Thanks again for an awesome experience!
--Zach A.
Took the course the end of April, first time ever on a bike. Got my endorsement the following Tuesday and bought my first bike that next weekend! ('06 Suzuki Boulevard 800-C50) Almost 500 miles on it already:) For those that are considering the course, I highly recommend it. For those women who may feel intimidated, I would say these guys (Bill and Bill)are awesome. They won't allow you to feel intimidated, even the other guys taking the course are encouraging. It was a great experience and I find myself using the skills I learned every day. Especially, the defensive driving skills as I ride my bike to work in downtown Grand Rapids. Thanks for the great experience. Bill and Bill, you guys are great! Big Bill...appreciate the "tough love"!
--Christine P.
Jim, Amy and ATC Instructors: I just completed (sucessfully!) your BRC course and I just wanted to tell you how impressed I am with the course, your instructors and how much I learned. Lynn is an excellent coach. He reminds me of my high school football and track coach. Very encouraging with a sense of humor. But he made me give 110% to achieve my objective. Jim was also very supportive when I had problems with the cornering excercise (slow, look, press, roll!) and the box (-0!). Both gave me the feedback I needed and provided guidance at the right time, thanks. Your program has a good balance between discipline and what is realistic to expect from your audience. Hey, it was even fun. I would recommend the ATC BRC course to anyone who wants a down to earth, low pressure, valuable training program to get the fundamental skills required to ride safely, regardless of how long you have been riding. Thanks again
--Paul G.
Thanks ATC for a great training experience. I am highly recommending it to all my Harley friends including the long-time riders. Now, I have a set of skills I have started to practice on my Heritage. The staff is top notch, very professional and a load of fun and they all ride as well. This is a great starting point for novice and veteran alike. No untrained experienced rider should feel there is nothing they can learn from this training. And you get to meet a lot of neat people from all walks of life. A great time for sure. I'll be back next year for the advanced training, paid in part by HOG. PS. And a special thanks to Jim L. for helping me out when my car broke down - a real decent guy. Thank you.
--Tom C.
Hi Jim and Amy, First off I loved your class. What a great time and I feel so much better with a good starting point. Now it's time to practice, practice, practice. With my completion card I'm getting a reimbursement from HOG (which pays for this year's HOG dues - not a bad deal). Thank you for your time. I'll be back some day for the advanced class for sure!
--Tom C.
Now that I've completed your training, I want to thank you and your staff for the exceptional training. The entire staff was professional and pleasurable to work with. Needless to say, I learned alot and hopefully will be riding safer because of it. Thanks again for everything....
--George G.
Amy, Jim, Glenn & Leith: thank you all SO much! The signup process & class was well organized, friendly, supportive, firm but encouraging. I highly recommend it! THANK YOU!
--Cheryl "CJ" H.
I took the BRC from ATC in 2005. I was so nervous as I had been a passenger only a handful of times and had never been a rider. The classroom portion was educational and the practical instruction was professional and safe. I can still hear Bill saying, press left to go left! A month later I purchased a Kawasaki Vulcan 800 Classic and put over 500 miles on it before I put it away for the winter. Last weekend my husband and I did 4-day trip over the Mackinac Bridge to the UP ... 1000 miles roundtrip. I actually ran out of gas at 55 mph on this trip, but I remembered the brief discussion about knowing how to switch to the reserve gas tank ... that preparation came in handy. Thanks for a great class!!
--Kimberly K
Jim and Amy, thanks for the great weekend of motorcycle safety education. I made some good friends in your classroom setting, and both Bills were excellent instructors out on the range. Having ridden motorcycles in the past, I was pleasantly surprised at all that I learned. Your classes are well worth the fees. I look forward to recommending you to others as a learning experience.
--Jason S.
Dear Jim, Amy, Bill, & Jim L.: Thank you Amy for getting me in the class in such an expedient fashion. It is greatly appreciated. The Friday PM classroom portion was enjoyable & excellent. The range segments also were excellent. Bill & Jim were outstanding instructors. They knew when to be encouraging, understanding, stern, & irritated by my not, "doing what I was instructed to do." Jim made many good points with me in his words of encouragement, insight, critique,& general demeanor. You four put on an outstanding course and I will remain always grateful for all of you’re efforts to help me become a safe rider. THANKS!!!
--Don L.
I want to thank everyone at Alpha Training Center for the excellent job you do. I hadn't ridden a motorcycle since I was a teenager 35 years ago and was a little nervous about getting back on one. But the attitudes and expertise of the trainers quickly let me know I had made the right choice. Your staff are professional in everything they do and create a supportive learning environment. The course's focus on safety and proper riding techniques was exactly what I needed. I will recommend your training whenever and wherever I can.
--Jack B.
Amy and Jim, My wife and I recently took your ERC Plus class to practice riding "two up". We appreciated the lessons in cornering, stopping, and general safe riding skills. My wife and I are excited to get a babysitter so we can enjoy riding. Fortunately, my mother-in-law has committed to watching our daughter at least once a week so we can go for rides. I have taken both your BRC and the ERC, and I am thankful that you have assembled the group of instructors you have. I feel like you prepared me well for facing "the enemy" :) Best regards
--Craig & Laurie L.
I completely enjoyed your ERC/W class. I had previously taken the "state" test in my local area and was unable to pass it. However your class gave me the cofidence to successfuly complete your course. I have raved about your course to my friends and co workers and believe several of them will be looking you up soon. I would also like to give a special thanks to Jim for push starting my bike during the course(its never a little skinny guys bike that won't start is it?) I am grateful that you would go the extra mile for someone taking your course. Thank you again John Schroeder
--John S.
I wanted to drop a note to let you know how pleased I am with the basic class I took over the weekend. We had Big Bill and Lil' Bill for our instructors and I have to say......THEY WERE GREAT! Between the two of them, everything was explained in detail and understandable. Both Big and Lil' Bill have a wonderful, quick witted way of teaching. They are very through in explainations, telling us why to do these things instead of just making us do it, which is much more effective. Thank you Big & Lil' Bill!
--Billi M.
I just graduated from the class today! It was a lot of fun. I had NEVER actually drove a bike before, so I was very nervous. I am 43 yrs. old, so I thought I would just not "get it". But I did, and I have to say, the instructors were awesome! I happened to have the father/son team of Bill & Bill Jr. They helped me a lot by putting humor in it and making us laugh at our mistakes. But they also congratulated us on our accomplishments too. I was worried that I would not pass and then would have to listen to all the "remarks" of my friends, co-workers, etc. But now that just is not going to happen. I am very, very happy, and cannot wait to go out and purchase a bike. I know I will be nervous out on the road at first, but I truly believe that with practice, I will loosen up and improve my skills. I recommend this course to anyone even remotely considering trying to ride. It is well worth the money and time. It is an experience that you will never forget. And I think down the road I will even take the other classes offered for people who know the basics, but want to improve on their skills. We can all learn a thing or two, and should never consider ourselves "beyond" learning more things. So thanks to everyone. The instructors, the classmates (Betty Rubble) - -you were great! Hope to see some of you out on the road one of these days! Drive safely!
--Nancy L.
I found you class and the instructors very helpful! I will glady give my recomendation for your course. Thanks.
--David M.
Thank you for all your work with setting up trainers and teaching the class. It was a great time! Our riding instructor was Bill Jr. He did a great job with safety and with having patience with us. I really enjoyed your training class. Have a great summer.
--Diane D.
I want to thank you for the great program that you have. It was not only informative, but fun as well. It was a safe and goal oriented atmosphere! I want to especially thank Bill and Bill for there patience and for keeping it fun! At NO time did I ever feel stupid because I wasn't catching on to something or embarrassed because my skills were less than others. It is my opinion that no matter how long you have been riding or if you have never road at all, this course can offer you a lot. My husband has been riding for many many years now and there was some tips and tricks that taught him after finishing the class. All and all you are a great bunch of people with a awesome program! My husband and myself will be returning to your class! Thanks again!
--Tanya D.
Jim and Amy: I apologize for not writing and thanking you all sooner. The course was great, I learned a lot. My instructor Bill was pretty cool too! I was real nervous riding at first, but picked it up pretty quick. I think everyone should take a course like yours. I may never be a die-hard biker; but I do enjoy the freedom it gives me. Once again, thanks to you for helping me build the confidence and giving me the basic skills I needed.
--Chris P.
Having taken a low-speed "header" early on in my motorcycling endeavors, the instructors at Alpha Training Center had many fears to help me overcome. They did so with the right combination of gentleness and hardnosed common sense you get from experience and skill. I have taken both the Basic Class and the ERC Skills Practice RiderCourse through Alpha Training Center and credit them with over 1,000 incident-free miles on my Suzuki Savage. Thanks, ATC, for all you do!
--Yvonne L.
I enjoyed the time spent in class and on the course. Everyone was kind and courteous. The instructors were great about answering every question that I had. My experience was so good that, I may take the other two classes to become a better rider…
--Robert S.
Jim, Amy, Bill, & Leith: I've been back from Iraq for a year. I served as a First Sergeant and Command Sergeant Major. The adrenaline level was constantly high and I returned home with that high level. I've always wanted to ride a bike but without the skills and training I stayed away. Your three-day course taught me the basic handling and street navigational skills I needed to take that long-awaited step. Since my class in September 2005, I've ridden nearly every single day and gained tremendous confidence. It is, no doubt, a continuous hands-on learning experience. The Army uses the Crawl-Walk-Run method of field instruction. Your course was similar but with one important ingredient: the instructors were all top-notch, experienced professionals. If you're looking for a school to learn critical safety skills.......this is it!
--Sal A.
Jim and Amy: Just wanted to say -- Thank You for a great weekend! Our instructor Bill was great. Refreshed some things I had forgotten, and added some tips I did not know. My son had a blast and I feel more confident allowing him ride by himself. Thanks again!
--Bob P.
Hi Amy and Jim, I graduated from the BRC last weekend (Sept 25) and had a great time! I had never ridden a motorcycle before, and I was surprised how far I came in one weekend. I took the written test on Tuesday and passed. I got the riding bug so bad that I went out today and purchased a 2006 Suzuki Boulevard C50. My skills carried over to my new bike and I had no problem at all driving home from the dealership. Something funny happened on my way home....a little voice bounced around in my helmet (sounded like Leith) saying "keep your head up" and "look to the end of the turn". Thanks for a great weekend and opening a new door for me!
--Bob C.
Jim and Amy just wanted to let you know I enjoyed your class immensely. I have already recommended the class to others. In addition, I wanted to say, that in my job as an executive with the state of Michigan, I have attended training seminars of many different kinds. Your presentation was as professional as any I have attended. Also, I did get my endorsement. Thanks!
--George M.
Hey Jim and Amy, and everone else at ATC. I just wanted to pass along my experience with the BRC. I came into the class not knowing what to expect. Having NEVER ridden before I was both nervous and excited. My nerves were quickly calmed on the first day at the range. It rained heavily on our first morning and this, while very wet, was also very fun and in my opinion made me an even better beginner! The instructors were superb! Never did I feel less than adequate, and I was always rewarded for what I did right and positively corrected for what I did wrong. After day two I was completely surprised by the skills I had acquired in only two short days. I look forward to getting my first bike and coming back next year for the advanced course! Thanks again and I look forward to seeing you all again next year!
--Jason M.
I thought the class was great! This class does a good job to orient the new rider to basic operation! Since I rode dirt as a kid, I had several bike skills that made the class a great refresher and eye-opener for “dealing with auto traffic.” I think this class was a better way to get the operators permit than just taking the SOS Road Skills Test, because I learned the reasons for having different practices/skills for off road than for the on road environment (trusting the bike on curves, front and rear brake use). The Sunday range/road class did an excellent job of driving those skills home and the instructors were great to work with. I really appreciated the sometimes loud and exaggerated straightforward attitude, and individual attention to each rider’s performance I think it is the best way to teach “improvement skills” to the level of each student in a weekend. You covered a lot of material in a very short time frame. These experts make riding look easy, but you are not fooled into thinking you can just go out there and drive in traffic. Moreover, it was honest! Student's safety was not compromised; those who were not ready for the road were told!

I was so excited about taking this course I couldn’t sleep the night before. When I got to the course and finally participated, I was not disappointed. Jim and Amy were so cool and calm that I was able to be calm. The exercises were great and their coaching was excellent. I have to admit as a new rider, I was initially a little worried about taking the experience rider course, but Amy and Jim helped out a bunch with coaching and correcting my mistakes. To say the least, you guys made my day. On the way home, I found myself practicing some of the techniques with my car. I'll be a better driver too. What a Bonus! Anyone considering taking a course with ATC, feel confident that the money is well spent. I wish I would have found them two years ago. Thanks Jim and Amy!
--Kellie A.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for a wonderful experience over this weekend. I have been riding since I was 19 years of age and let my endorsement laps a few years back. I took the course as a safety refresher and to obtain my endorsement as well. I learned more in the 3 days of training with your staff than the entire time I have been riding. Your classroom instruction was excellent and Bill and Glen were outstanding coaches during the range training and instruction. Your staff and instructors are a valuable asset to the motorcycling community not only for people new to motorcycling, but to those who have experience as well. I look forward to the spring season so I can participate in your experienced rider’s course. ATC did an outstanding job at keeping the learning fun as well as rewarding. I will be carrying the skills learned through all of you as I continue to ride. Once again, thank you for your time and dedication to keeping motorcycling safe through great training and instruction.
--Dennis C.
ATC Team: I wanted to thank you for the fun weekend. I learned a lot and appreciated the high level of talent and expertise from your team. I purchased a motorcycle today and felt very comfortable thanks to all of you. I have already referred others to your class and have confidence that they will enjoy the experience as much as I did. My wife and son will join a class in the spring. Thank you...
--Bill R.
To ATC thanks for a great weekend. I enjoyed the course and will recommend it to others. I do plan to take more courses in the future to keep improving on the skills I do have. I'll even keep trying to complete that "figure 8" thing.
--Tina S
Thank you - Jim and Amy for the coaching and encouragement during the ERC course. I will use the instructions that you have given me and keep practicing and building my skills. I will be spreading the word of the benefits of taking this course. The course was fun. Thank you both again for the informative day.
--Brent T.
Thanks for the great weekend. My goal was to forget about work, and my extensive honey-do list. I am happy to say that I achieved my goal. I am pretty confident I will become an owner/operator of a motorcycle in the near future. Yet, I am humble enough to know that I need many more hours in the parking lot practicing. Personally, I enjoyed Denny’s constant feedback. I understand your teaching technique of letting the students figure it out for themselves, but I enjoyed hearing constant feedback from Denny (most of it was negative, and it should have been). I will be quick to recommend your class to others, and I hope to be back someday to attend the Experienced Riders’ Course. Thanks for everything.
--Bill S.
Thanks to Jim, Amy, Bill and Bill for a great weekend. I absolutely loved the class. Thanks again to all of you.
--Patty C.
When I wanted to buy a bike this summer the only way my wife would agree was if I took a motorcycle saftey class, so as you can imagine I went into this class under duress. However, after spending this last weekend re-learning some basic riding skills I would not heitate to recommend this class to anyone. Everything was professionally done. Bill Sr. and Bill Jr. were excellent coaches and instructors and on behalf of Bill Jr. a wolverine teaching in Spartan country ... GO BLUE. Thanks for everything.
--John S.
Thanks for an excellent learning experience. Bill and Bill were our range instructors on the weekend of 8/6/2005 and I appreciated their abilities to clearly communicate their long experience and thorough knowledge of motorcycling. I will highly recommend ATC to anyone I know that wants to learn to ride or to improve upon their existing skills.
--Rob D.
I just wanted to say thank you to Bill & Bill for all your help in getting me aware of thing's I needed to know. I haven't rode a bike since I was 16, but have just been a rider on back. I'm glad now that again I can go ride and not have to depend on anyone to take me. Even though I didn't master the figure 8 thing -- I will still keep trying. Thank's again for your time.
--DeAnna K.
I joined the class on a friend's recommendation and I must say he was correct in his assessment. The bikes were new, the course was excellent and Jim and Amy marvelous. Under their watchful eye, I was able to "unlearn" my bad habits and learn new habits which would make me a safe rider. It's interesting how I subconsciously apply the lessons learnt from the safety class even when I am driving my car and become a better driver/rider overall. Even if you have been riding for a while, I would strongly recommend the BRC class.
--Vivek J.
I just wanted to add my thanks for a great weekend in the basic class. After being away from bikes for over 28 years, I was more than just a little rusty. In fact, without the class, I would have gone back to some of the old habits that I had "self-learned" way back when. Bill and Bill were a good team and very good instructors. I'm now officially endorsed and riding again. Feels pretty good. Can't wait to try the ERC next year when I have some miles under my belt. Thanks again for a terrific re-introduction to the world of motorcycles.
--Geoff R.
ATC folks: Just finished the Basic Course--it was a great learning experience & confidence builder. Thanks so much for the valuable skills you pass on to us, and for helping to make our entry into the motorcycling community a safer one. The professionalism of your organization and training team are quite impressive, and made the course enjoyable and rewarding. I'm recommending your course to my friends who are interested in learning to ride.
--Heather P.
I thought the class was great. I learned a new skill set to develop, and your class gave me a good foundation to build upon. The instructors were great, they were supportive, yet firm in giving the instruction necessary to be a safe rider and learn the proper way to handle a motorcycle. I am looking forward to putting some miles on then returning for the ERC maybe next spring. I will refer anyone interested in riding to Alpha for their instruction. Thanks again to Jim and Amy, Lynn and Leith, Jim and Denny for a fun and exciting weekend.
--John C.
Just wanted to drop you a note to let you know that I really enjoyed your class this past weekend. All of the instructors were great. Being completely new to riding, I picked up some valuable skills that I probably never would have learned by myself. I would strongly recommend your course to anybody who wants to start out right.
--Tom K.
The class was great, and the instructors are one of the main reasons. The MSF training course is something I think everyone should partake in if they want to ride. The Alpha Training Center staff help put everything we learned into action. I would, have, and will recommend this class to any family and friends who are interested in picking up motorcycle riding.
--Chad C.
Hi Jim and Amy, As I said I would, I returned for the ERC class this spring. Once again I was impressed with the level of instruction I received. The course touched on all the areas I have been challenged with since riding last August 2004; the slow turning, using the foot brake and the friction zone and thankfully the swerve. Unfortunately, I had to use the swerve last night as a driver suddenly moved into my lane. I was able to avoid a crash because of the skill set I learned and practiced last weekend. So I am especailly grateful for your excellent instruction this year, and will continue to refresh my skills with you and will recommend you to all the members of my club (and anyone who will listen for that matter!) Thanks.
--Mary E.
I finished your Experienced Rider Course today. I have to say I learned a lot of good techniques. But what stands out to me the most is the amount of care put into the course. I had a slight mishap with a bike and everyone was great how they handled it. It was like it never happened. Thanks again for a great day of riding!
--Joe C.
Dear Jim, Amy, and staff, This letter is of a different type but one that I feel any prospective student should read. I didn't do very well in this course, as a matter of fact I pulled myself out at the beginning of the second day on the range. It was humbling to have to admit I couldn't master the co-ordination of clutching, braking, shifting and all the concentration that goes into being a good rider. I was impressed never the less that you folks weren't into just passing everybody because they paid the fee. It showed all that you were truly advocates of teaching safe and correct riding technique. Keep up the good work and integrity to all who come to you to make riding safe for not only the rider but for everybody else on the road.
--Patrick D.
Hi, Jim,Amy,Bill and Denny. I want to thank you all for a great weekend. Everyone was so helpful and and it was a very relaxed training environment, which was very nice for myself having never riden a motorcycle before. If anyone I know tells me they want to learn how to ride or need to get there endorsement I will DEFINATLY recommend ATC. Thanks again I learned alot and once I log some miles I am already considering taking the ERC courses.
--Jim L.
Hi Jim and Amy, I thoroughly enjoyed the class that you guys put on. It is truly a first-rate effort. The instruction was informative thought provoking, and given in a very clear and concise manner. I had forgotten how much fun it was to ride, not having been on a bike in 30 years, and you guys were able to bring all that back in a very non-pressured atmosphere. It was a very good time. Keep it up.
--Tim J.
Jim, Bill, & Amy, I just want to thank you so much for all of your help. I have always wanted to ride but I never imagined how much goes into it. I went from someone who was unsure of my skills and ability to someone who PASSED! I couldn't have done it without you all. Thank you again, very much. I will see you on the road!
--Heidi C.
Jim and Amy, I really enjoyed taking the ERC last year.I have over 4000 safe miles since May. I recommend your classes to everyone. Thanks, Bill H.
--Bill H.
To Jim and Amy, I have attended many seminars in the past years; none of which have been Motorcyle related and none have ever been like this one. Everyone was given exceptional time and consideration in being taught how to become a responsible and qualified driver. All of the instructors, along with Bill (who was just GREAT) demonstarted a genuine concern for all aspects of the skills needed by everyone and was very clear as to what it took to become a good Driver. I have never seen so much patience and dedication demonstarted by instructors. This is the best class I have ever attended. Anyone who already drives a motorcycle or would like to drive one needs to take this class. It's the best class I have ever taken and the things I was taught will hopefully save my life some day. Thanks again, It was just GREAT! Keep up the good work!
--Richard L
Hi Jim & Amy, I want to let you know that I had a very good time this past weekend. The class was very good and I learned a lot from everyone. This was an excellent course to take. I am considering taking the other course to become even a better cycle rider. I can see it is important to keep ones skills up to maintain being a good rider.
--Ray K
Jim & Amy, Thank you so much for the great experience during my weekend with Alpha Training! (Aug. 20-22). I learned so much about the technical aspects of riding, but most importantly, we learned about safety. I'm so glad that I went through your course and would recommend it to anyone who is interested in learning to ride. Many thanks to Leith, Denny, Jimmy, and Dave! Everyone was tough on us, but made the course fun and very productive.
--Kelli S.
Dear Jim and Amy, I can't thank you and your staff enough for the class. I thoroughly enjoyed it and couldn't believe how much we learned in such a short time. I just purchased my first bike (Suzuki marauder) and am starting to gain some experience. I thought so much of the course that I strongly advised two of my sons to sign up. While EVERYONE at ATC was superb, I'd like to send a special thanks to Jim Lanfrankie, our lead instructor on the last day. He taught us so much in one day. Moreover, he was a stickler for details. He would not let us just "get by". He challenged us to do it right first time, every time. No slop or cut corners allowed. He watched every one of us, personally and pointed out bad habits just starting to emerge. To a person, we students were thankful for it. It takes effort to hold up high standards. He really did it. He is a fantastic teacher. Just wanted to pass that along with a huge THANK YOU.
--Bari O.
I want to tell you what a great time I had at the class. I learned so much there, I am so glad that I took it! The instructors were wonderful! They were so patient with us and did an awesome job explaining everything to us. You guys all do a great job. Everything ran smoothly and I couldn't thank you enough for all the knowledge and confidence that I gained. Thanks Again!!!!
--Diane I
Jim and Amy, I wanted to complement you for the excellent class this past weekend. I had never riden a motorcycle prior to your class. The classroom and range instruction fit perfectly together. I look forward to taking more advanced classes in the future and will recommend your classes without reservation. Lastly, my girfriend, enjoyed your class also. She did not feel intimidated and your instructors were very helpful and supportive to her. Thanks again....
--Douglas H.
Hi Jim and Amy I really enjoyed the class last weekend. Bill and Dave were very good instructors they made the range fun and enjoyable. I thought they and excellent job. Thanks alot -- I really appreciated enverything. I would recommend your class to anyone.
--Jack S.
What an outstanding class! I highly recommend this class for any person who is even remotely thinking about driving a motorcycle. The Instuctors were top notch. This was my first time on a motorcycle as a driver and I am now enjoying my '82 Honda Sabre. Thanks for everything.
--Scott W.
Jim and Amy, just finished class on sept 10. My wife and I got alot from this course. We had both ridden in the past, but we let our endorsements lapse. This was a great way to get back up to speed. Thanks!
--Tim and Paula C.
Marty & I really enjoyed your class. You ALL were great and we learned a lot. After the class we talked about how I took the class only to be a rider with Marty and not a driver but I got the bug. I looked around like you said and I just bought a Honda 750 Shadow today. Thanks again, we are recommending you guys to everyone intrested. Keep up the good work.
--Karen H.
Dear Jim and Amy, I can't thank you and your staff enough for the class. I thoroughly enjoyed it and couldn't believe how much we learned in such a short time. Hi Jim and Amy, As a recent graduate of the BRC course I wanted to let you know how much I enjoyed the course from Alpha Training Center. The instruction I received from Bill and Jim continues to stay with me as I ride on my own. It provided the necessary foundation for a new rider like me to build on. Bill and Jim were very knowledgeable and patient with their students. I would like to come back next year for the ERC. Regards,
--Mary E.
Hello, Just a quick note and thanks for the motorcycle training I received this last weekend in Lansing 8/27 - 8/29. I had very little experience riding a motorcycle, I practiced with one I purchased a few weeks ago going up and down the driveway prior to attending your class. Your class did a good job in preparing me to start riding and also put a "healthy scare" into me as to some of the things that can happen while riding a motorcycle.... I enjoyed the class and would recommend your business to others. If things go well, I will most likely take your advanced course after the snow clears in the spring :) Thanks
--Tom H.
Jim, Amy, Bill & Jim L., I just thought I should let you know how much I enjoyed the training. The content of the training, presentation, equipement, and standard of the trainers was excellent. I would not hesitate to recommend the class to anyone, from a first time rider to someone like myself who needed a refresher course. Once again thanks and keep up the good work.
--John G.
Hi, I just wanted to say thank you for the wonderful training I received at your class this spring. When I took the class I had no previous riding experience and was very apprehensive about the whole thing, even though I knew I wanted to ride. With a little more parking lot practice, I have been on the road since the end of May on my Springer Softail. I gain confidence every time I ride and I constantly recall (and act on) things I learned in class. I am loving every minute of riding my own bike and couldn't have done it without you! Thanks Again!
--Elaine S.
Just wanted to say thanks for doing such a great job. All of the instructors did a great job and are very professional. I only wished this course was around when I started riding the first time 32 years ago. With a 25 year rest from riding this class helped insure some bad old habits did not come back. I have recommended this class to my sister and I am slowly talking my wife into taking a class. Please contact me next year so My son Jim and I can take the Experienced Rider Course as a refresher and start the new year of riding right. Thanks again!
--Dave C.
My exposure to motorcycles has only been as a passenger. The decision to take the course was made shortly after my husband bought his motorcycle. It occurred to me that if he became ill, we would be in trouble because I wouldn't be able to drive for help. During the two days of Range Instruction, I learned that I can ride a motorcycle on my own! The instructors are Oh-So-Patient, and excellent teachers-leaders!! Personally the course was stressful for me, but Jim, Leith, and Dave seemed very "tuned- in" to the stressful moments. That was key for me, because I had many moments when I "knew" I wasn't EVER going to be able to ride a motorcycle. But, they came up with the right word of encouragement, a light-hearted comment, or a joke to dissolve the stress. It was obvious to me that they were teaching with the opinion that we were ENTIRELY capable of learning the skills and passing the course. THANK YOU for a great experience!
--Lisa C.
From all of us at Baker Drivetrain, we wanted to thank ATC (Jim and Amy). They did all they could to meet our schedule. I spoke to everyone here that took the class and they all took home at least one new skill they learned this weekend. All the employees had positive feedback, they all said they had a great time. You guys do a great job keeping it professional, but still making it fun. Everyone here says - THANK YOU,
--Marc L.
Hello Jim and Amy: You all are great! I was suppose to take your class last year, but dumped a bike and never got back on. I took your class this year and I really didn’t think I would have a chance in passing. You are a great bunch of people and wonderful teachers. I will recommend ATC to anyone that is tired of riding as a passenger and has a passion to ride like I have. Because of you all - I have the courage and the knowledge to do what I want and enjoy the sport of motorcycling God bless and thanks again,
--Maryln G.
Jim, Amy and Crew, Your motorcycle training class is awesome. I have learned so much taking your class. I recommend this class to anyone that is interested in learning how to ride a motorcycle. I commend each of you for your dedication and working long, endless hours without breaks in between classes. Your love of people and safe motorcycling shows. Hope our paths meet again!!!
--Sandy F.
Lets start off with thanking Jim & Amy, owners of ATC and the excellent instructors, Leith, Jim, and Lynn. I thought I had the experience to pass the skills test without your course, but I was wrong. The training I received from your instructors was great. I learned a lot more than just what my friends taught me. I would recommend your course to anyone. I am trying to get my wife to sign up! I had lots of fun. Enjoy your summer. I with the knowledge I was given from your course. Hope to see you in the advance course. Thanks
--Shane S
Your ERC Class was very beneficial for me. I was able to use the cornering tips on the way home and could tell the difference both in the smoothness of the turns as well as my confidence. The thing most helpful to me, however, was the realization of the things I knew and could do when I passed my road test that I couldn’t do as well now. Your refresher of these elements really helped me and the discussion pointed out the importance of knowing and practicing these elements frequently. Thanks for a great course.
--Mike D
Where to start, aside from this course is outstanding and ought to be required for motorcycle licensure in all states. The course is very well organized and administered. The fact that you premail the books is a great idea - I appreciated the opportunity to read through prior to the course. Jim and Amy did a super job with the classroom session - the pace was right on target and I appreciated the discussion and examples (thanks, Amy!). Jim is very approachable and supportive. The range portion of the course was exceptional. Lynn Kentner is an excellent educator (and by the way, I am a professor of education, and I supervise preservice teachers). Lynn is clear, gives thoughtful feedback, and is supportive. He understands the learning process well and is able to help people develop skills wherever they start out - with no riding experience to those with a bit more. Leith is very strong as well. I learned a great deal by watching him demonstrate the maneuvers and from his comments. Both of these instructors are extremely approachable and supportive. They could spot when folks were becoming anxious and responded accordingly. Jim L. was an excellent addition to our second day. It seemed as though he upped the ante a bit and also was able to fine tune some of the basic skills from the first day. His "pickiness" helped me to tighten up some skills and to focus on what I need to continue working on after the course was over. Lynn's parting comments were well taken. He reminded the group that we had just learned to ride in a parking lot and that some of us would need some practice before we went out to "play in traffic." I appreciated that comment very much. I have some wonderful skills to work on now as I get into motorcycling. Overall, I found the course engaging and challenging. As Amy had commented, when things got a bit frustrating (as all good learning should), I reminded myself to just smile and that really helped a lot. I honestly can't think of any ways to improve your course. Things are well organized, well paced, professional, supportive, and thoughtful. Things like the handouts with directions and getting the booklet before the course are very helpful. The website is well organized, too. Oh, perhaps we could have some water at the classroom session (we only had coffee and soda available). It's embarrassing, but that's the only thing I can think of at the moment. I'd be happy to talk more about the course if you are ever interested. Feel free to call me. Again, I can't thank you all enough for your time and effort. Excellent, excellent job (and ask my students, I don't use that adjective very often...).
--Allison Y.
Dear Jim & Amy, Thanks so much for getting me in so soon. I'm certainly glad I found Alpha Training Center. Your classroom training was very well executed and informative. But, I really liked your on range instructors Leith, Lynn & Jim and how they instructed the course, they made it fun and as they said thats how its suppose to be and only you can make it that way, keep an open mind and do what they tell you,if you don't your only hurting yourself you can all do it! And the best thing that was said at the completion of the course when you got your blue/green card is just because you got your certification doesn't mean your all ready for the open road!Practice,Practice,Practice an Be Safe! PS, when you guys are on the training course and Lynns raising his hands & yelling pick it UP "Don'T Pass Anyone! There now your ready to Go! Thanks Again.
--Jennifer F.
Jim & Amy: Just wanted to let you know what a wonderful program I think you have. I had the priviledge of working with Lynn Kentner, Jim Lanfrankie & Leith Curtis. They are all very professional and easy to work with. I can't believe how patient they were with each of the students. I would not hesitate to recommend your course to anyone. Keep up the great work!! Thanks for the boost of confidence!!
--Roberta J.
I wanted to thank you for a wonderful weekend of training. Being an accountant, I know what the capital investment must be to purchase all the bikes, print all the manuals, and pay the help so its clear you are not in this to get rich. That means you are in to this for no other reason but to help those who wish to ride to do it safer. It was also a pleasure to interact with a group of police officers on a personal basis. For most of us our only contact with the police is at the least stressing, but it was great to see that you are just people like the rest of us, and in this case people who love to ride. You are giving to the community in a way that is certain to make a difference and I plan on seeing you next year or the end of this year for the next step in training. Keep up the great work, you are doing much more then just training new bike riders, you are doing the very best in community service.
--David L.
Jim & Amy, First off I would like to thank you for offering this training....Money well spent! Leith, Jim and Jim (short) were FANTASTIC coaches and took the time to instruct everyone based on their abilities and gave one on one time when needed... If you are looking at this site look no more you’re at the right place if you looking for quality... Again, I can't thank you enough for the OUALITY training I had this weekend, I will stop by and see you all when I'm riding near the course. See you soon for the one day class (ERC) you offer.
--John M.
For all the 50-something women out there who want to learn to ride a motorcycle so they can enjoy 'retirement' with their spouse... Alpha Training Center is the place to be! Amy, Jim (tall), Jim (short) and Leith made our weekend well worth the time we put into it. Having NEVER ridden a motorcycle before, I was scared to death and I had my "moments" but the whole team wanted me to succeed and offered me a lot of encouragement as I begin this new adventure in my life. Let us know when you start the 'scooter' classes!!!
--Ann L.
Thanks to Leith, Lynn, Jim, Amy, and Bill for their patience and diligence providing instruction to the class which completed training on April 25, 2004. Their expertise and instruction helped me overcome my fear of riding and eventually led to my new enthusiasm for spending time on a motorcycle. I found the class to be useful and practical, with a well-placed emphasis on safety and being careful on the road. The exercises enabled me to build sufficient confidence and respect for motorcycles so that I'll be able to ride and enjoy and come back home in one piece. And last week, I passed the state written exam (a tricky series of questions!)and now I have my license. Now, all I need is a motorcycle.... I also thought your class was a heckuva lot of fun. Really enjoyable, and one of the better weekends I've had in years. Regards, many thanks, and good luck to all of you!!
--Bob B.
